Modern skateboard legend Nyjah Huston has gotten some love from ASUS by the way of a one-of-a-kind concept gaming laptop, aptly called ROG Strix Nyjah Huston Special Edition.
The X Games multiple medalists, whom will be representing the U.S. at the 2021 Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo, has received this special built laptop because, well, he is a legend? Not sure.
Anywho, the ROG Strix Nyjah Huston Special Edition is based on the ROG Strix SCAR series which features a top end display with 360 Hz refresh rate and 3 ms response time, top-of-the-line NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs and AMD Ryzen 5000-Series Mobile Processors, advanced cooling technology with liquid metal, ultra-responsive optical-mechanical keyboards, and bold designs inspired by athletic gear.
Not going to lie, the lid design is what drew me to it in the first place. The laptop cover features a 3D design with a textured finish that reminiscent of a skate park commonly found in the city.
“A “katana cut” RGB slash lights up behind it, complementing the illuminated ROG logo, and the included UV flashlight brings out hidden accents on the lid. A mesh-like, stainless steel version of the Strix SCAR series’ modular Armor Cap decorates the rear-left corner of the machine, while a stainless steel piece replaces one of the rubber anchors on the base, making the system easier to reposition with one hand.”
In another homage to skateboarders, the laptop was given a smokey translucent surfaces on the keyboard deck and the underside, allowing a peek inside the innards.
The translucent surface is inspired by, believe it or not, X-rays that pro skateboarders use to check for broken bones after major falls. Strange homage, but Okay.
In any case, it is no doubt a super cool gaming laptop. Perhaps one of the coolest we have seen thus far.
Befitting the man who skateboard for a living, the ROG Strix Nyjah Huston Special Edition comes with a custom package that has a box that doubles as a skate park for fingerboards, which it has two included with the laptop.
