Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1 2nd Gen

It has been 4 years since Bang & Olufsen introduced its first ultra compact Bluetooth speaker, A1. For the longest time, we thought there’s not going to have a follow up, but here it is, the new Beosound A1 2nd Gen.

For such a long hiatus, you may be expecting some pretty major update. It does, but only if you think IP67 rating and Alexa voice control are major updates.

Audio reproduction, it has got a 3.5-inch woofer and a 3/5-inch tweeter, backed by 2x 30 W Class D amplifier for both woofer and tweeter, that promised to deliver “punchy, True360 omnidirectional sound.”

In addition, it has Multipoint feature that lets you connect two devices and control the tunes.

An onboard rechargeable battery offers up to 18 hours of playtime and in addition to being waterproof, it is now completely resistance to dust and sand.

Other notables include Bluetooth 5.1, 3 internal microphones for hands-free call with “great call clarity,” five presets EQ, customizable sound using B&O app, and supports Apple Fast pair, Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair.

Generally, the design doesn’t not deviate much with pearl blasted aluminum and waterproof leather, but it has a low profile now. Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1 2nd Gen is already on the market, going for a US$250 a pop.
