The ambient or transparency mode on TWS earbuds is great but probably not enough for users to be completely aware. Plus, with something jammed into the sound holes and completely sealing them, your ears are going to bear the full brunt of the sound pressure. Not the best for ear health, TBH. This is where open-ear headphones like the new Bose Ultra Open come in.
They are like a cross between wearable speakers and in-ear headphones. If you haven’t already heard, open-ear phones are the latest fad. They allow you to enjoy the music without blocking out the ambient noise. It is kind of like hanging a miniature speaker at the entrance of your ear, so you will not be cut out from the rest of the world. Sony Linkbuds is one such “anti-active noise canceling” earbuds. However, Bose isn’t new to this either. It introduced a pair of Bose Sport Open Earbuds back in 2021, though not quite as radical as this.
The Bose Ultra Open is a new audio wearable designed for all-day comfort without sacrificing music enjoyment or environmental awareness. Unlike traditional earbuds, each earbud has a cuff-shaped design that clips to each of your ears with the speaker directed to your ear cavity.
They boast high-quality sound using Bose’s OpenAudio technology for clear, leak-free audio and Immersive Audio for a three-dimensional listening experience.
Available in Black and White Smoke, they offer up to 7.5 hours of battery life (with Immersive Audio turned off), up to 19.5 additional hours with the charging case, IPX4 water and sweat resistance, and compatibility with Snapdragon Sound Technology and Google Fast Pair.
The earbuds also support Bose SimpleSync to connect with Bose smart soundbars and speakers for a personalized audio experience.
