Keen eye readers may have noticed that we have tagged this post as “computer monitor” and “novelty”. But why? Because, the Cary Works ViewEdge R2 are both.
Cary Works ViewEdge R2 is a mini display that can be configured to display whatever you desire and at the same time, it is a novelty item that pays homage to the 1984 Apple Macintosh – the Apple that started it all.
Basically it is display in the likeness of Apple’s legendary personal computer. Make no mistake, though. It is NOT an accessory that make a certain watch looking like the good’ol Macintosh.
It makes for a functional decorative desktop item which you can use to display your favorite video or photos, lyrics of songs when playing music and it can also be used as a widget display for displaying clock and weather, stocks and whatnot.
It is compatible with both Apple and Windows computer. However, it will not work with consoles like PlayStation or Xbox.
Anyhoo, unlike the original Mac, this modern and tiny iteration has a 6063 aerospace-grade aluminum enclosure. Moreover, it features a micro USB as it power interface and a HDMI for audio/video signals.
The display is, of course, a modern hardware too. It is 3.8-inch AMOLED display capable of 1,200 by 1,080 pixels with a pixel density of 423 ppi and quite amazingly, it has a refresh rate of 90 Hz and 100% sRGB color gamut.
If you are keen, you may acquire it from KBDFANS for US$279. It’s not cheap, but god damn it, it’s beautiful.
