after a long hiatus after the economy downturn in 2008, Honda president Takashi has announced that the supercar project will be resurrected under the model HSV-010. it looks like Honda might have sorely missed the supercar actions that saw Lexus LFA wowing the world over and as well as a host of reincarnations from the likes of Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and Nissan GT-R. so is it an announcement spited by its competitors’ development or is it going to be real? whatever it is, we will just take it with a pinch of salt. until then, lets just savor the goodness of some images of the Honda HSV-10 GT after the jump. Mitsuoka, famed for its ultra-retro designs for their automobile, has its Himiko roadster reincarnated in the form of an electric vehicle, courtesy of TGMY. the car made its debut at the recent 2011 Japan EV show, and if its look did not give it the much deserved attention, then its incredible 550-km (340-mile) range certainly would. the Himiko EV is powered by TGMY’s AC induction motor, and features controller from Azure Dynamics and a two-speed gear box from Shigehara Inc. 1955 Ford Bubbletop Custom to go under the hammer

old school futuristic look is what i would describe the 1955 Ford “Beatnik” bubbletop custom concept. every aspect of this gorgeous custom concept speaks of the future as seen in the 50s perspective. every part ranging from the bubble glass top that tilts up, the aircraft flight yoke-inspired steering wheel, the roundish dash pod and the covered wheel wells which gives the car a floating appearance – all which reminds me of the 60s cartoon The Jetsons. Ferrari’s first 4-seater and four-wheel drive supercar (update)

having four-seats and a four-wheel drive system doesn’t sound much like what Ferrari will do. on the contrary, that’s what the new Ferrari FF is: a four-seater, four-wheel drive supercar. don’t be deceived by the ‘FF’, which has absolutely nothing to do with ‘front-engine-front-wheel-drive’ but rather, it’s an acronym for Ferrari Four i.e. four seats and four-wheel drive. instead of going all out electric, Volkswagen is banging on a more practical and efficient hybrid system which touted to squeeze out an impressive 0.9-liter per 100-km. this latest prototype, dubbed the VW XL1, is the third generation ultra-fuel efficient car with a CO2 emissions of just 24 grams per km. Volkswagen attribute this impressive achievement to the lightweight monocoque construction, carbon fiber parts and an excellent aerodynamic form which results in a drag coefficient of 0.186. the choice of materials resulted in an extremely lightweight vehicle, weighing in at just 795-kg. unlike others in the auto industry who constantly wow us with new vehicles or concepts, Smart is keeping rather low-profile in recent months. i supposed, in order not to sink into the background of this industry, auto makers have to do something if have ran out of tricks in their sleeves. having said that, that might just what Smart is doing. it is giving us the special edition Smart fortwo, dubbed nightorange, and what do you know? it comes in orange and black hue. the nightorange, is essentially a cosmetic makeover for the fortwo and not a new model. just when i thought the heritage of budget roadsters are gone forever, then comes along a concept compact roadster from Toyota, dubbed the TES Concept T-Sports, unveiled recently at the Toyota Auto Salon. it is probably a sports roadster that sits somewhere between the Mazda MX5 and the Daihatsu Copen. how did this concept sports roadster came about? apparently, this prototype example was built by Toyota Engineering Society (TES), following up to a questionnaire that pitched the question on what sort of vehicles they thought Toyota needs to build. Rolls-Royce Apparition is the future luxurious hot rod

on the first look, the Apparition reminds me of the hot rods of the yesteryear but upon closer inspection, you will notice the driver is exposed to the elements while there’s a hint of an area for passengers to huddle at the rear. the Apparition is designed by Jeremy Westerlund, now a full-time designer, while he was studying at the Art Center school of design. the Rolls windshield-less design with an open-top cockpit reminisces the olden days carriages where the driver sits higher up at the front of the vehicle. form flowing land-hover craft for 2053 is a beauty

Chase 2053 img1 544px

the concept of us flying for everyday short trips is kind of scary, so shall we just start with hovering instead? at least that what designer Thomas Larsen Røed has envisioned with his vehicle of the future, aptly named Chase 2053. it is a vehicle for the year 2053, which can be driven around as a normal car or as a hovercraft. i cannot imagine the curse from the pedestrian when the Chase 2053 hovers past them. the downward thrust could turn off anyone easily, not to mention the amount of dust it’s going to kick up. contact-less charging would be perfect for world of EV

HaloIPT Wireless Charging Sytem img1 544x311px

our recent post on Blink Network of EV charging stations prompted us to wish for a wireless or contact-less charging alternative in the market. not that we own any of those EVs at this moment but the prospect of handling high current electricity scares us off (we are simply afraid of electricity except for those we use in the house). contact-less charging for small gadgets is already a reality, so why shouldn’t it be adapted for EV? our wish has been answered in the form of HaloIPT‘s Inductive Power Transfer or IPT.
