Mercedes-Benz will be offering the all new vario-roof with the new SLK next year. the new vario-roof will boast innovative technology, resulting in an unique glass roof which can be made either transparent or darkened at a touch of a button. according to Mercedes-Benz the glass roof when ‘in transparent mode it will offer an open-air experience during cold weather, while in darkened mode it will afford a haven of shade and prevent the
interior from heating up in direct sunlight’. do note this is a panoramic glass roof, not sunroof (sunroof is just out-dated). Continue reading Mercedes Benz to offer panoramic vario-roof with MAGIC SKY CONTROL for 2011 SLK

pop question: what can you do with a chop saw, a reciprocating saw, a drill press, a Lincoln Electric power Mig welder and 4 years? no idea? well, you probably can construct a real-life batmobile tumbler. that’s what Bob Dullam did. i am totally astounded. just looking at the photos is enough to make me drool. the name Spaceport signified that the future is here. well… almost. if you haven’t heard… as oppose to a ‘port in the Space’, Spaceport is actually a hub where future Spacecrafts will gather and take off into the Space. Virgin Galactic has completed the runway to its first commercial spaceport. named “Spaceport America”. located in New Mexico, the 2-mile long runway is built to support any form of spacecraft currently in existence–a short compatibility list. seriously, there aren’t many spacecraft to date. Chopper City BatPod Replica: super heroes required

Chopper City BatPod Replica 544px

i’m not a huge fan of the Dark Knight, but the vehicles the cape crusader uses are something i wish i had in real life. and here it is the real life BatPod… replica built by Dave Welch. named the PS-POD, it is powered by a 850cc V-twin engine from Aprillia Mana. needless to say, a lot of metal bending and rolling has gone into reproducing the Dark Knight 2-wheelers complete with grappling hook and mock up guns. Areaware STRiDA LT foldable bike breaks the geometry barrier

Areaware STRiDA LT foldable bike 544px

this odd looking bike is designed by Mark Sanders. strange as it is, it certainly grabbed my attention in an instant. this design enables the rider to sit upright, thus giving the rider a good view of the road ahead. seriously, i haven’t seen anything bicycle in such a triangular form. the frame of the STRiDA LT is of lightweight aluminum, while a single speed power is transferred to the rear wheel via a silent greaseless Kevlar belt. so you don’t need but a Harley to have ‘belt drive’ on your two-wheeler. stopping power is in the form cable disc brakes, again, something which you don’t often see on folding bikes. new old vintage of the week: 2010 Vespa GTS

there’s just something about retro these days. the more technologically advanced we are today, the more we want a piece from yesteryear. so we redesign the vintage into a new product, throwing in the modern day livery. Vespa is a good example. of course, nothing beats a real vintage but being a real vintage could mean high maintenance, and not mention it is definitely not environmentally friendly. remember those coal-burning steam cars? those were definitely a big no-no in today’s context. Vespa has a history that dated back to 1946, and have since garnered quite a cult following. i still like the original vintage, despite being a potential target for the environmentalists. so let’s hit on the retro note, grab a Diana Mini lomo camera, an iPhone 4 with the retro iTape Deck case and hit the road on a Vespa. attire is entirely up to you. DTV Shredder – All-Terrain stand-up vehicle

BPG-Werks DTV Shredder - Jumps 544px(photo source: bpg-werks.com)
a tough, rugged answer to Segway. this mean looking stand-up ride can zip through any terrain at a top speed of 50km/h, including snow. pretty menacing speed, considering you will be standing up. DTV stands for Dual Track Vehicle, developed by BPG Werks. Powered by 200cc four-stroke Honda engine, the DTV Shredder can hit 30 mph and climbs a 40-degree slope. not something very environmentally-friendly, though. the DTV Shredder has wide applications including military and recreational. who knows it might just spawn a new sporting category as well. judging from the official video, it looks like it can controlled remotely and also has the ability to tow. excellent for medic-evac and towing of heavy equipment. i wonder what’s the noise level like? it has got to be somewhat quiet for military operations, don’t you think so? you know? i really want one of this badly! if cycling at night is your kind of thing. the Night Bright Tyre is a sure way to increase your visibility to other road users, and naturally increasing you safety level. the tyre uses LED embedded into the thread or wall which is switched using a motion sensor within the tyre, forming a continual ring of light as you pedal on. safety aside, the CYGLO tyre certainly looks awesomely cool. you can’t have a bike like TRON in real life, but you can have a bicycle that looks like one.
