Following the Evangelion x Citizen PROMASTER, another PROMASTER has gotten the pop culture treatment. This time, Citizen partnered with Toho for a, you guessed it, Godzilla timepiece. But this Godzilla has nothing to do with Godzilla vs Kong; it is the Gojira from the new anime TV series, Godzilla Singular Point.

Citizen PROMASTER x Godzilla SP Watch

The Citizen PROMASTER x Godzilla SP is offered in two colors, red (NY0080-21Z) and gray (NY0080-39H) – both of which are based on the Citizen PROMASTER Mechanical Diver 200M.

The watch itself features 200 meter water resistance, a robust stainless steel exterior with rugged unidirectional bezel, crystal optics, magnetic resistance, luminous hands and indices, screw lock crown at 8 o’clock position that will not get in the way of wrist movement, and Caliber 8204 mechanical movement featuring automatic and manual winding.

Gojira touches include a dial face featuring the highly recognizable dorsal fin of the radioactive reptilian with ferocious nature of the creature expressed in red or gray. Further evidence of the presence of the world famous kaiju is an engraved silhouette of the monster on the case back.

The Godzilla influence is fairly subtle, IMHO. One day, I hope to see a timepiece with the dorsal fin, in 3D, wrapped around the watch band. It’s just a fantasy of mine, so, don’t mind me.

Rounding up package is a special display stand and box with Godzilla SP branding. Pre-order for the 38,500 yen (about US$353) Citizen PROMASTER x Godzilla SP started just last week, but already both models have been spoken for. No surprise here. As there were on 500 units per model to go around. FYI, the official release date on May 28.
