Car concepts are usually wild, impractical, and borderline fever dreams. Chevrolet decided to double down and give us two of them—because why not? Folks, meet the Corvette CX and its rowdy twin, the CX.R Vision Gran Turismo. Both were revealed at The Quail, not to end up in showrooms, but to set the design mood for future Corvettes and, more importantly, to shred pixels in Gran Turismo 7.

Corvette CX Concept: A Street-Legal Starship
The CX is Chevy’s idea of what a future Corvette for both street and track could look like. Think fighter-jet canopy, clamshell roof that opens when you walk up, and 41 inches (104 cm) of roofline sleekness. Underneath, four electric motors crank out a combined 2,000 hp, backed by a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery. Torque vectoring means each wheel gets its own angry motor. Active aero wizardry, including a Vacuum Fan System, keeps the whole spaceship glued to the tarmac. Inside, you’ll find Inferno Red ballistic textile seats, silicone leather, forged carbon trim, and a digital windshield that doubles as your HUD.
Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo: The Virtual Track Weapon
If the CX is a future road car, the CX.R VGT is its unhinged cousin built strictly for the racetrack. Draped in classic Corvette Racing yellow and black, it lowers the stance, shaves weight, and dials up the aero. The powertrain mixes a 2.0L twin-turbo V8 revving to 15,000 rpm with three electric motors for a combined 2,000 hp. The interior strips down to raw carbon fiber, suede-wrapped seats, and big shoulder pads to keep your head from ricocheting under G-force.
Both CX and CX.R are coming to Gran Turismo 7 this month, so the only barrier to entry is your thumbs.
