You probably have watched the Creature From The Black Lagoon at some point in your life, possibly late at night on some free-to-air channels. Speaking of this classic monster flick, it is in its 70th year in 2024. It is considered one of the grandaddies of monster movies. It was released in 1954 in black-and-white 3D (yes, 3D in the 50s!). Not everyone gets to watch it in all its 3D glory though.
Most people have watched the film “Flat”, in two dimensions. Anyhoo, the film was released again in 1975 in theaters, and subsequently available on Beta and VHS tapes in 1980. It is suffice to say Creature From The Black Lagoon is a legend on its own. To mark this legendary silver screen monster’s 70th anniversary, Mondo has released a super cool vinyl action figure of the creature itself, the Gill-man.
Standing 10 inches (about 25 cm) tall, it is a timed edition figure based on the concept design by Attack Peter and boasts multiple points of articulation, including head, shoulders, and wrists. The figure is sculpted by Tufan Sezer, with paint by Hilary Arce.
The Creature From The Black Lagoon – Vinyl Designer Figure by Attack Peter – Green Timed Edition Variant, as it is officially called, is available starting February 12th at 12 PM CT through February 16th at 12 PM CT, priced at US$125 a pop. It is a pre-order, btw, which is expected to ship in July 2024.
