Inspired by Russia’s Black Shark military helicopter, the Dartz Prombron Black Shark armored car is the world’s first real “spy car” announced by the Latvian armored car builder to mark the 100 years anniversary of Russia’s Motorized Infantry, which happens to have used Dartz’s ancestor RussoBalt Armored Car.
There is little doubt that the Dartz Prombron Black Shark is an insanely luxurious armored SUV, but according to Dartz, founder and owner Leonard Yankelvoich despises the term SUV, even though it in fact, has a Mercedes-Benz GL-class underpinning. Makes sense cos’ this is definitely not going to be your typical pick-your-kids-from-soccer-practice or grocery shopping utility vehicle. If you can afford one, we trust that you have someone else driving a Lada hatch to the grocers on your behalf. Cosmetically, this thing looks like a beast and sufficiently apocalyptical, especially when dressed in the “spy grey” paint work. Power comes from a choice of Mercedes-Benz AMG V8 or V12 Biturbo engines which can be tuned up to 1,500 horses and each vehicle comes standard with a pair of Vertu luxury smartphones, providing you with access to exclusive apps including monitoring your vehicle’s inside and outside, and booking a private jet with just two clicks.
The Dartz Prombron Black Shark is a personal security car and hence, you can expect a slew of security features like bulletproofing with up to B7 armoring, a Kevlar-Titanium body to counter magnetic mines (now that’s extreme), custom retractable door handles, rotating bulletproof grill with Dartz badge with customizable monogram, electrochromatic windows for privacy, a built-in shock device to keep intruders out (specifically, paparazzi), and a security system dubbed GoldenEye boasting fingerprint and retina scanners. On the comfort and safety aspect, it boast laser-engravedItalian leather, Bang & Olufsen entrainment system, and in addition to Mercedes-Benz Driver Assistance package, there is Vigiton, a driver vigilance telemetric control system that monitors driver’s psycho-physiological condition and overall awareness, so you can have a peace of mind knowing you are in safe hands.
If you are supremely paranoia, more military-grade options are available including sniper-prevention roof, road analyzer, distance explosive detector and signal jammer. Basically, this car has everything that are fit for war zones. So how much for this ultimate in personnel protection for everyday civilians? Dartz wouldn’t put a price on it and only says it will have six zeros on the price tag. We are not asking because none of us will ever afford one, much less sit in one. In any case, we are not expecting to be living with that much money and in the middle of warlord conflicts. As for those who feel the need to have one, then you better act really, really fast, because only five cars will be made, plus five “special cars” reserved for China market.
