The most joyous day of the year may be behind us, but that does not mean the joy should not continue. Having said that, do you know what makes ‘joy’? Well, it would be a hilarious animated short about Christmas such as this animated Christmas short entitled Dear Satan. One look at the title, you knew it is going to tickle your funny bone. Created by ad agency Anomaly London, the film is about a young lass whose heartfelt letter to Santa inadvertently landed on the desk of the prince of darkness because of a very innocent mistake: a typo of ‘Satan’ instead of ‘Santa’.
Needless to say, this innocent letter to the devil lead a series of turn of events that changes Christmas as we know it (AKA all hell breaks lose, like quite literally). And oh, someone has gotten herself a three-headed dog that breathes fire and piss lightning. Awww… so sweet… OK, maybe the short isn’t hilarious. It was humorous nevertheless and most importantly it gets the mood right – thanks in part to the narration by Patrick Stewart who lends the short with a fantasy storytelling you have come to recognize.
