Remember the grotesque and yet strangely alluring Evangelion Unit-01 Burning “G” Awakening Form vinyl figure? Well, it now comes in DefoReal, a.k.a. the “Q” variant. And no, “Q” doesn’t stand for “cute”—unless your definition of cute includes radioactive kaiju flesh grafted onto giant biomechs. This pint-sized terror joins the ever-growing “Q” family of Evangelion x Godzilla mashups like the MetalGreymon: “G” Erosion Mode and the earlier Awakening Forms.
For the uninitiated, the Godzilla x Evangelion is a forbidden project, and this figure was based on the original concept of “What if G-cells (i.e., Godzilla cells) were injected into the Evangelion Unit-01?” Blasphemy! I don’t believe Lilith or Adam will be pleased, but who cares what those Angels think, right when you have a result that looks this cool?
As said, it may be the “Q” version, but it is far from being adorable. It is “Q” for the caricature style. A caricature-style Unit-01, it may be, however, it still manages to look terrifyingly feral. It’s rocking a brand-new 3D head sculpt, left arm, and even an Angel Halo, which, let’s be honest, is the kind of irony only Evangelion can pull off.
The body is decked out in a fiery paint job inspired by Awakening Unit-01 and Burning Godzilla. In daylight, it’s intense. Under black light, thanks to fluorescent paint, it glows like it’s about to drop a rave set in Tokyo-3. (Black light not included—sorry, Shinji.)
If you spring for the limited edition, you’ll also get a power unit that lights up its eyes and chest core. Because, a glowing kaiju-robot hybrid definitely feels more alive than one that does not.
Standing about 18.5 cm (~7.3 inches) tall and made from PVC, MBS, and pure nightmare fuel, this little monster is available only through select outlets like Premium Bandai and the Evangelion Store. Orders are capped at six per person, which is either merciful or suspicious.
The DefoReal Evangelion Unit-01 Burning “G” Awakening Form is available to order for 16,500 yen [JP] (~112 USD). The reservation period started on August 08 and will end on September 01, 2025, at 2300 hours. It is slated to ship in November 2025.
