DJI RoboMaster EP Tank Drone

You don’t need to dream about a future where you make robots do your bidding. You can start with the DJI RoboMaster EP Tank Drone, or at least you will soon be able to in China. Following the DJI RoboMaster S1 launched last year, DJI has announced a second RoboMaster educational robot.

From what we read, it is even more versatile in terms of what you can make it do. In other words, it is more of an educational toy than then RoboMaster S1.

With the DJI RoboMaster EP, you can choose to configure it as a sorting robot, a carrier robot featuring a built-in extension platform that is fully compatible with LEGO (yes, you heard that right!), or a sentry robot.

If you have enough funds, you can probably set up a miniature mock up of a warehouse environment to test our your automation concepts where a few sorter robots and carrier robots can work to run a warehouse while a couple of sentry that will guard the facility while also looking out for humidity, temperature and whatnot.

That’s the picture painted by DJI and personally, I didn’t think it’s an exaggeration. Anyone with money could pull it off. Except maybe for the coding part.

That said, DJI RoboMaster EP is not limited to the above mentioned configurations. Thanks to the official open SDK and 50 programmable modules, what you can do with the DJI RoboMaster EP is limited by one’s imagination.

At this point, DJI RoboMaster EP Tank Drone is official in China. However, pricing has not been revealed. There’s a “contact us” button which led us to believe it could be targeted at academic bodies. There’s no telling if it will make it outside of U.S. It will be ashamed not to since STEM is big in stateside.
