In a study by economists at the University of Chicago, iPhone has become a status symbol. A symbol of richness, to be exact and as such, it is safe to assume that if you own an iPhone, you wouldn’t mind splurging on opulent cases too. If that’s the case, you are on the right page because, Gresso, the other purveyor of very expensive iPhones (among other things), has just the iPhone cases for your lovely iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. Called Gresso Magnum Titanium Cases, these cases command a hefty $595 a pop. Believe it, my friends, it is not a typo. It is that pricey.

But mind you, this aren’t exactly ostentatious. The Gresso Magnum Titanium Cases do not have run-of-the-mill luxury. Instead, for 600 bucks, you will be treated to a two-part case. The interior is of TPU that does the bulk of the protection and also ensure it (the case) will not harm your precious device and the exterior is crafted from grade-5 titanium, a material that’s significantly stronger than aluminum and steel. Rounding up the design a hand-polished titanium insert that rocks the highly recognizable Gresso logo, along with the individual number from 001-999.

Apparently, the case is not all look and no ‘performance’. Gresso said the case is capable of withstanding loads of up to 250 kilograms (551 pounds), survive drops from up to 10 meters (33 feet), and features a 2 mm lip designed to protect the screen from getting all the impact. After reading through the features, I still don’t quite get why it is so pricey. But then, I saw the packaging. Each Gresso Magnum Titanium Cases for iPhone XS/iPhone XS Max comes in a black leather box, complete with polished hinges, and each case comes with a certificate of authenticity.

You read that right. A luxurious box for a case. The exclusivity, numbered and limited production, plus the box and because it is of well crafted titanium, it probably has the right to call that price. Still, I think it is a bit much. However, not everyone is as poor as a struggling blogger like me and so, if you are down for an iPhone case that costs more than half a grand, you can head on to Amazon and grab yours. Don’t worry, at this price it won’t be flying of the shelves.
