If you haven’t already heard… there is going to be a new Gundam animated series on Netflix. Called Gundam: Requiem For Vengeance, it is an all-new original animation with six 30-minute episodes. This series is a prequel. The series is set during the final months of the Zeonic War for Independence, against the backdrop of the European front of the One Year War which was the setting of the first Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam.
Anyhoo, the story follows a pilot for the Principality of Zeon, Iria Sorai, who has the job of defending the European front against the Earth Federation Forces. One of the show’s highlights is the use of Unreal Engine 5 to create ultra-realistic animations. The series is directed by Erasmus Brosdau (Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness), and written by Gavin Hignight (Tekken: Bloodline, Transformers: Cyberverse). The Gundam: Requiem For Vengeance will start streaming on Netflix worldwide in Fall 2024. Meanwhile, skip ahead to the official trailer #1 to get you excited.
