There are a lot of buzz in the area of electric automobiles, but boats? Not so much and we have absolutely no idea why. Having said that, in case you are in the market for one silent, eco-friendly seafarer, then you may want to check out the Hinckley Dasher Electric Yacht. Man. Let me tell you, folks. This thing is a looker! And it is, of course, fully electric – in fact, it is the world’s first fully electric luxury yacht, as the long-time yacht builder have claimed.
For an undisclosed price, you will be treated to an object of lust that is propelled forth by Hinckley Whisper Drive electric propulsion’s twin 80HP electric motors paired to waterproofed lithium-ion batteries borrowed from the BMW i3. With the electric drive, you will get all the silence you need when you are out on the open water, so you can hear every nuance of the party’s conversations and possibly, even hear potential threats like giant squid or monstrous-sized stingray that may be on to you and your party. Nah. I am just kidding. That won’t happen. Probably.
The Dasher features a gorgeous carbon epoxy composite hull with carbon stringers, topped with an “artisanal teak” deck and it has a frame-free windshield which you raise or lower as desired, which further adds to the overall sleekness. To compliment the high-tech material it uses, it has a high-tech touchscreen console, plus concealed lighting to spruce up the onboard atmosphere when the night falls and a sophisticated charging system comprising of a dual 50 amp dock charging that is capable of taking the Dasher to full charge in under four hours, so you’d be spending less time at the dock and more time on the high seas.
Hinckley Dasher Electric Yacht is open for reservation now with delivery expected to happen in Summer 2018. As for the price, we dare not ask.
