If you are a super fan of live-action Iron Man, you have to check out this latest collectible from Hot Toys, Hot Toys Iron Man Mark VI (2.0) with Suit-up Gantry 1/6th Scale Collectible Set. I think it will be a perfect companion to the open armor Iron Man Mk VII suit from Iron Man 3.
The product name pretty much says it all. It is a figure of Tony Stark, in the likeness of Robert Downey Jr., with his Iron Man Mk VI suit and suit-up gantry as seen in The Avengers movie. So, yeah, it is a two-part collectible.
The first is the screen-accurate Iron Man figure made in diecast material and the second part is, well, the suit-up gantry. You could buy the 1/6th scale suit-up gantry on its own, btw, but you’d be missing the fun of recreating the suit-up in the process scene which the includes 32 cm-tall (12.6 inches) figure has to offer.
The Hot Toys Iron Man Mark VI (2.0) with Suit-up Gantry 1/6th Scale Collectible Set comes with additional helmet and armor parts such as chest, shoulders, thighs, and back which reveal mechanical details to let you recreate the various stages of suit-up or removal of the suit. Unfortunately, those are replacement parts which means you have to remove the corresponding armor to install the exoskeleton version.
It comes with an alternate helmet-less head that has an incredible likeness to Robert Downey Jr. – complete with independently adjustable eyeballs. Not going to lie. When I first saw the head sculpt, I was blown away by the uncanny resemblance to RDJ.
The figure further features an LED light-up helmet with interchangeable faceplate, movie-accurate proportion, detailed armor design in metallic red, gold, and silver color, interchangeable battle-damaged chest armor, interchangeable hands, deployable flaps, and hidden compartments on shoulders to reveal weapons.
The 1/6th scale Suit-Up Gantry, on the other hand, is about 42 cm (16.5 inches) tall and features multiple articulated mechanical arms, and an adjustable annular tunnel in metallic paint. The gantry has a light-up feature too. USB-powered LEDs can be found at the tunnel and gantry platform/stairway.
