Hot Wheels is really cashing in on the anniversaries of pop culture icons. Hot on the heels of the Jaws diorama (yes, it is a die-cast boat, for those who don’t know), comes a set celebrating 40 years of Back to the Future.
Fellow BTTF fans, meet the Hot Wheels Back to the Future 40th Anniversary Set from the Hot Wheels Collectors line. Set to drop on July 24, 2025, at 9 AM PT, this celebratory set features two vehicles from the iconic Twin Pines Mall parking lot scene.
Included in the set is the time-traveling DeLorean Time Machine—which has seen more variations than Marty McFly’s timeline—but this one is an SDCC 2025 exclusive deco. It’s paired, for the first time ever in 1:64 scale, with Doc Brown’s humble-but-crucial GMC Value Van. That’s right. The very same van that rolls up to change movie history with some Libyan plutonium and a flash of blinding light.
Both vehicles sport die-cast metal builds and Real Riders wheels, and they’re housed in a display-worthy diorama that recreates the parking lot scene in glorious miniature. Even better, the outer box is interactive—it unfolds a ramp from the side, letting you slide the display tray out just like Doc does when unloading the Time Machine. It’s a small touch that adds a ton of nostalgia value.
Everything is neatly packed inside a movie-themed collector display box, which itself slides out of a protective outer shell. At just US$32, it’s probably the cheapest way to own two iconic pieces of time-traveling hardware.
So, if you’re planning to get your flux capacitor fix, better set your reminder now. I have a feeling that this is going the Back to the Future Part II route: flying (but off the shelves, not Lyon Drive).
