One of the most iconic JDM rides of the 90s, the Toyota Supra, has once again been immortalized in a 1:64 die-cast collectible. This time by Hot Wheels in its RLC Exclusive sELECTIONs series. The legendary Japanese sports car did not return as a die-cast miniature alone; it is with HKS.
Folks, meet the Hot Wheels RLC Exclusive sELECTIONs 1997 Toyota Supra, featuring a livery inspired by HKS’s iconic “oil splash” motif, which is an integral part of their packaging, merch, and race car liveries—but with a twist.
While the HKS livery captures the rainbow effect of oil on a wet racetrack, the traditional violet has been replaced by member-voted Spectraflame dark purple. Well, that’s kind of a bummer, but also kind of a hallmark of the sELECTIONs. I was expecting a full replica of the livery that is as iconic as the car itself, but oh well… Anyhoo, as with any sELECTIONs collectible, the detail on this Supra is impeccable.
Where most die-cast miniatures would have passed off the interior in black (which Hot Wheels is guilty of doing one too many times, too), this one has aqua seats against a black interior, adding a fresh pop to the miniature. It has an opening hood that reveals an engine bay where you can find a touch of aqua, too. Very cool. It is almost a perfect miniature JDM, if not for the missing traditional violet. It is still a cool ride that reminds petrolheads of the golden era of JDM.
Rounding up the feature list is a light smoke-tinted window, a full metal matte black chassis, a removable targa top, and Real Riders 10-spoke wheels. Personally, I am not too fond of a targa top, but in this instance, it lets you have a close look at the cool interior, which is a nice touch.
This is not the first RLC Exclusive 1997 Toyota Supra, by the way. It received a lot of love from members when it debuted last year, and so, they, the members, voted it as the second 2025 sELECTIONs casting.
