Back at MWC earlier this month, Infinix Mobility had more than just a snazzy vertical tri-folding phone to show off. It also revealed two concepts that make phones more alive than ever: a solar-powered phone and a color-changing back cover. The latter first showed up last October, but now it’s back with an AI-powered upgrade.
SolarEnergy-Reserving Technology: Your Phone, Now a Mini Sunflower

Imagine a phone that sips power from the light around it, whether from the sun or that flickering office lamp. Infinix’s SolarEnergy-Reserving Technology does just that, using perovskite photovoltaic tech and AI-powered tracking to optimize energy collection.
The prototype charges via a solar back panel or a special phone case, which seamlessly transfers power to the device through hidden contact points. Infinix even built AI “Sunflower” Wireless Charging, inspired by real sunflowers, to track light sources and adjust energy intake for maximum efficiency. Currently, it can collect up to 2W, enough for extended standby time, with future versions aiming for more.
E-Color Shift 2.0: When Your Phone Matches Your Mood

Next up: the E-Color Shift 2.0, an AI-enhanced back cover that changes colors based on external stimuli or personal settings. Users can pick from six patterns and six palettes—mixing and matching up to 30 combinations. There’s even an AI-Recognize Mode that adapts the color based on the weather, wallpaper, or surroundings, making your phone as dynamic as you are.
These innovations signal a shift toward smarter, more sustainable phones. And with Infinix teasing the NOTE 50 series at the end of March, expect more futuristic features soon. Circling back to these two devices… they appear to be concepts for now and will remain so for a while. But if there’s any hope for real innovation, it would be with smaller tech companies like Infinix Mobility and Tecno.
