Insta360 GO 2 Minions Edition Action Camera

When you look at the Insta360 GO 2, what does it reminds you of? For me, it reminds me of Stuart the Minion or just about any one-eyed short Minion from Despicable Me. It didn’t take long for Insta360 and Illumination and Universal to realize the resemblance too because there is now the Insta360 GO 2 Minions Edition Action Camera.

A collaboration that couldn’t be more appropriate because Insta360 is fun just like the Minions and because of the obvious: the form. Give it a coat of Minion-appropriate colors, i.e. yellow and blue, and slap on graphics of a black back and a smile and the Insta360 instantly becomes fun even when not being used.

Completing the package is a bunch of accessories, including a Minions-specific lens guard which is silver instead of black (preinstalled on the lens by default), a magnet pendant, pivot stand, easy clip, a Type-C charging cable, and a Minions-themed charging case that also doubles a tripod like the non-Minions version.

Beyond the cosmetic, the Insta360 GO 2 is exactly the same as the standard issue. Meaning it is no bigger than a grown person’s thumb, rocks a 1/2.3-inch sensor capable of capturing up to 1440p at 50fps and it is outfitted with a battery good for up to 150 minutes of operation when used with the included Charge Case.

The capabilities are pretty much the same, featuring a 6-axis stabilization, Horizon Lock function, 15-minute clip length (or 30 minutes for FPV), rugged construction that is waterproof to 4 meters (13 feet), WiFi preview, remote control, hyperlapse, and in-built auto-editing.

But before you jump on it, the fun look commands a premium. The Insta360 GO 2 Minions Edition Action Camera costs US$329.99 a pop, which is a good 30 bucks more than the standard issue.
