Think of a GoPro-style action camera and a thumb-size video camera like the Insta360 GO. Now, marry them together. Hard to imagine? Well, you need not imagine because the Insta360 GO 3 is exactly that: an Insta360 GO that is also a GO Pro-style action camera when you want it to be.
Insta360 has taken its super tiny action camera and given it a new spin. It comes with a GoPro-like enclosure called Action Pod that lets you use the little guy like a regular GoPro-style action camera, and use the Pod’s integrated 2.2-inch flip touchscreen for previewing shots.
You can also use the touchscreen to control the camera remotely and preview the shots while having the Insta360 GO 3 mounted in hard-to-reach locations.
The thumb-size camera module weighs in at a featherweight 1.2 oz. (35g) and features a unique magnetic body that adheres to almost any ferrous metal surface and “magically” attaches to your shirt with a magnetic pendant accessory.
The Pod is not the only upgrade the new GO 3 has to offer; the new GO now records video at an upgraded resolution of 2.7K (the GO 2 was 2K, btw) and boasts the action cam maker’s proprietary FlowState Stabilization and 360 Horizon Lock.
Furthermore, the action cam also touts new recording modes including Pre-recording, Loop Recording, and Timed Capture. The latter allows scheduled recording at a specific time which is perfect for catching the sunrise timelapse while zzz away.
As before, the Insta360 GO 3 is backed by Insta360’s powerful app and editing ecosystem which boasts features like FreeFrame Mode for modifying the aspect ratio of the video after shooting and the renowned AI-powered editing features that automatically curate your best clips and edit them into custom reels. Moreover, it has no clip length limitations.
The new GO also boasts a larger 310 mAh battery that allows for up to 45 minutes of Pod-free recording, as well as dual microphones that offer clearer and crisper audio over its predecessor and Voice Control 2.0 for true hands-free operation.
When mounted in the Pod, which has a 1,270 mAh battery, you can extend the GO 3 power and record for up to 170 minutes.
The Pod connects to the GO 3 over Bluetooth and the device also has 5 GHz Wi-Fi connectivity, and it has a 6-axis gyroscope built-in. The camera has an IPX8 waterproofing to 16 feet (5 meters).
In addition to the Magnet Pendant accessory, the new Insta360 GO 3 is supplied with Easy Clip for a hat, Pivot Stand with a reusable sticky mount and a 1/4” mounting point for a selfie stick or tripod, and a replaceable Lens Guard. This action cam is ready for action out of the box.
The new Insta350 GO 3 is now available in three storage options: 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB models, priced at US$379.99, US$399.99, and US$429.99, respectively.
