Jaguar Type 01 Electric Vehicle
The camouflage is off, and Jaguar’s Type 01 has kept the imposing look that made its concept worth talking about. Its long, low body has an almost armored movie-car presence. Beneath it, three electric motors deliver up to 1,030 PS, giving the dramatic shape plenty of muscle.

Remember the Jaguar Type 00 concept? A couple of years later, the Type 01 prototype showed up dressed in camo, and we learned that the concept ain’t staying a concept. Well, now the camouflage is off, and not going to lie, I kind of like the new design direction.

The newly revealed Jaguar Type 01 is a four-door electric GT that gives us something refreshing amid the horde of rounded cars. It has that drive-by-shooting-era movie-car vibe: long, low, and imposing, with an almost armored appearance. That is strictly a styling observation, btw. I am not suggesting it comes with ballistic protection.

There’s something pleasing about a car that looks this deliberate. You may love it or hate it, but you are unlikely to mistake it for whatever just pulled up beside you.

Long Hood, Plenty of Power

A low roof, long bonnet, short front overhang, extended rear, and 23-inch wheels give the Type 01 its proportions. Underneath is Jaguar’s dedicated JEA electric architecture.

Three motors deliver up to 1,030 PS (approximately 1,016 hp) and 1,365 N·m (1,007 lb-ft), with intelligent torque vectoring. Zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 3.2 seconds; accelerating from 100 to 180 km/h (62–112 mph) takes four seconds.

That second figure seems particularly appropriate for a grand tourer. Getting moving is one thing. Having that much left when you are already moving is another.

Active aerodynamic vanes and a three-stage deployable spoiler help achieve a 0.23 drag coefficient. The substantial-looking body is evidently better acquainted with airflow than its appearance might suggest.

Four Seats and a Soundbar

Inside, a central spine separates four individual seating spaces, accented by brass-effect anodized aluminum. A 24-inch OLED driver display and a separate seven-inch central touchscreen handle information and controls.

Jaguar’s Immersive Sound System adds a full-width Panoramic Soundbar and Sensory Audio seats. The cabin sounds like somewhere you would want to spend time, which is rather important when the whole point is covering distance.

An 850-volt electrical system and 118 kWh usable battery support estimated ranges of up to 400 miles (644 km) EPA or 720 km (450 miles) WLTP. At 350 kW DC, Jaguar quotes up to 321 km (200 miles) added in 13 minutes.

Orders are expected to open in early 2027, with deliveries in the second half. Pricing remains unannounced.

For now, I am sold on the shape. Jaguar promised a different-looking future, and the Type 01 gives us something worth looking at. Well, only if you are cool with EVs, of course. If you do, and want to learn more, you may do so by hitting up Jaguar.com.
