KAWS x Netflix’s Squid Game Young-Hee Figure

The infamous Young-Hee doll from Squid Game—you know, the one who doesn’t need to lift a finger to send chills down your spine—has been reimagined yet again. First, Mattel’s Monster High gave it a quirky spin, letting us almost warm up to its eerie charm. But just as we were settling in, KAWS swooped in to remind us of the sinister vibes this doll represents and how a seemingly innocent game of Red Light, Green Light can go horribly, fatally wrong.

Behold the KAWS Young-Hee Figure, a collaboration between Netflix and KAWS to mark the return of Squid Game. If you thought KAWS’ Companion figures were unsettling before, this version kicks it up a notch. Young-Hee in KAWS form somehow makes the original doll look like a cheery toy store mascot.

Standing a towering 15 inches (38 centimeters) tall, this Companion iteration swaps its usual beer-belly look for a straight-bodied school uniform garb, complete with knee-high socks and black kicks. But here’s where it gets extra weird: its posable arms exist solely to cover its trademark X-eyes instead of rotating the head to look away.

Oh, and it has hair. Hair! Imagine that “hair” on a Companion figure! The molded hair isn’t limited to the top; it has a pair of ponytails too. It’s an aesthetic choice that somehow feels both delightful and deeply unnerving. And then there are the classic KAWS cauliflower “ears,” which, in case you’re wondering, are not part of the hair.

There are two versions to choose from: the classic orange-and-yellow outfit you know from the series, and a monotone grayscale version for those who want their nightmare fuel in muted tones.

For the collectors among us, here’s the good news: this isn’t some one-off concept you can only admire online. The KAWS x Netflix Squid Game Young-Hee Figure is available for purchase.

International orders can be made through the DDT Store starting Thursday, December 19, at 9:30 AM EST (or Friday, December 20, 10:30 AM HKT). If you happen to be in Seoul, you can visit a time-limited pop-up store from Friday, December 20, through Sunday, January 5, 2025. The price? A cool 2,500 Hong Kong dollars, or roughly US$322.

And yes, it comes with an NFC chip for authentication, because knockoffs of pop culture icons like Companion are practically their own currency at this point. If you want one, you can register your interest HERE.
