Killerbody has rolled out its fair share of wearable Transformers helmets over the years, but none have been as exciting as the latest: the Transformers G1 Optimus Prime Helmet. That’s right, fellow OG Transformers fans—G1 Optimus Prime is finally getting the spotlight he deserves. It’s been a long time coming, IMHO, but hey, better late than never, right?

Now, to manage expectations—it’s not an exact replica of the G1 Optimus Prime head sculpt. It’s slightly stylized in my opinion, but the G1 essence is unmistakably there. What sets this helmet apart, though, is the addition of 15 removable magnetic pieces. When detached, they reveal the inner frames and Optimus Prime’s face sans battle mask. Sadly, the battle mask isn’t motorized—it won’t dramatically slide into place on command like in the cartoons. You’ll need to remove and attach it manually.
As with its predecessors, the helmet’s various functions can be controlled using the included Autobot logo remote, by touch, or through voice commands. The antennae, battle mask, and lips all move in sync with speech, maintaining that high-tech flair. Even the vents move—but only manually this time. To round things off, the helmet features multiple lighting points, including the eyes and head crest, adding to its futuristic aesthetic.
While it is wearable, this iteration appears to skip the voice changer found in previous offerings, which might be a letdown for some. And now for have good news. Killerbody Transformers G1 Optimus Prime Helmet is available now in two variations: the deluxe, which boasts the said detachable armor parts in transparent blue, and the standard with regular blue armor parts. The former commands a cool US$700.50 while the latter goes for US$646.51.
