Of course LEGO listens – especially when there’s money to be made. We are talking about surprise announcement over social media made earlier this month, the LEGO 75280 Star Wars 501st Legion Clone Troopers.

Clearly not a big set as you can see. The #75280 packs a modest 285 pieces and it is definitely way more kid-friendly than the just-revealed LEGO 75275 UCS Star Wars A-Wing Starfighter (ages 7+ versus 18+).

As the product name suggests, this set is a homage to the Republic’s elite troopers, the 501st Legion Clone Troopers.

It may have under 300 pieces, but there’s actually quite a bit going there. The set includes an AT-RT Walker in its new color scheme and stud shooter, the BARC Speeder with a pair of stud shooters, and four minifigures (3x 501st Cone Troopers and 1x 501st Jet Trooper) plus a pair of Battle Droids.

LEGO 75280 Star Wars 501st Legion Clone Troopers will hit the stores on August 1st for $29.99. I surprised it wasn’t slated to drop on May 4th.
