LEGO fans with a special place for retro objects will be thrilled to know that LEGO has just revealed another relic of modern civilization, a radio. Joining retro icons like the LEGO Roller Skate, LEGO Typewriter, LEGO Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera, and more is the LEGO Icons Retro Radio (10334).
Inspired by the radio from the good’ol 70s, this 906-piece set has a foldup handle, antenna, classic power, tuning dials, and a sliding frequency switch. It may be a non-working replica of a portable radio from the 70s but it is more than a nostalgic display piece.
When completed, the LEGO Icons Retro Radio (10334) features a dial to turn the sound on/off or switch between different pre-recorded sounds in soundbrick – mimicking a real retro radio. While it may not have actual FM transmissions, it has a design feature that can turn it into a music-playing device.
The build includes a hidden compartment with a smartphone holder, allowing you to place your phone in the radio via the back panel so you can spin some real tunes. You can fire up your favorite music apps to enjoy music on this retro-licious brick-built radio.
For the best effect, you should be streaming music with non-premium Spotify so you get ads too, just like the good old radio stations. Better yet, listen to your favorite radio station using apps like Radio USA: Online FM Radio, myTuner Radio, and more.
Anyhoo, the LEGO Icons Retro Radio (10334) will sell for US$99.99 when it becomes available on June 01, 2024, for LEGO Insider Early Access, and on June 04, 2024, for the rest of us.
