The awesome LEGO Ideas submission, the playable LEGO Grand Piano by SleepyCow aka Donny Chen, not only made it as an official LEGO Ideas set, but LEGO has made it even more awesome.

As you may already know that Chen’s creation has some seriously intricate elements of a real grand piano, functional keys and even LEGO PowerFunction to enable self-playing, but the official product is even more brilliant.

LEGO Ideas 21323 Grand Piano actually works with LEGO Powered Up app, affording you full control of the musical notes and piano keys. Absolutely brilliant. You can also choose to give your fingers a break and select ‘auto-play’ instead and this superlative LEGO grand piano will play one of the ten pre-set songs available.

A few other key notables include a removable 25-key keyboard, a top lid that can be propped up, an authentic hammer action and a moving damper and pedal.

After going through ‘fine tuning’ by LEGO designers, Chen’s playable LEGO Grand Piano now packs a whopping 3,662 pieces as opposed to his original 2,798 pieces. All told, the LEGO Ideas 21323 Grand Piano measures over 8.5 inches high, 12 inches wide and 13.5 inches deep when closed (22.5 x 30.5 x 35.5 cm).

The set may cost a princely sum of US$349.99, but last checked, it is already sold out on lego.com. The set official went on sale on August 1st. The speed at it flew off the shelves is a testament of its popularity. Some other retailers and brick and mortar stores may still have the set, though.
