Fans of Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982, Universal Pictures), we bring good news from LEGO. The LEGO Ideas set of the iconic extraterrestrial E.T. by Lafabrick, green-lit by the LEGO Review Panel last year, is now an official set!
Lafabrick’s LEGO Ideas E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (21370) has been refined by the LEGO team and is ready to order for US$139.99, with deliveries starting August 1, 2026.
It looks like the LEGO team has smoothed out the design quite a bit and thinned the arms slightly to make them more movie-accurate. The fingers are also more slender and longer. While the fingers retain the same posability as the proposed set, the same cannot be said of the arms. Articulation at the wrists remains, but the elbows are now fixed. Instead of chunky brick-built arms, the final set uses 2×2 round bricks, round elbow pieces, and right-angle round elbow pieces.
We love Lafabrick’s original design, but we are equally glad to see the refined version.
Anyhoo, the 21370 lets you recreate (almost) every wrinkle of the adorable alien. It offers a fair amount of posability. The little guy’s head tilts up and down and rotates a full 360 degrees. You can rotate the arms at the shoulders and pose the fingers, including pointing his forefinger to symbolize E.T.’s desire to “phone home.” You can also have him hold the pot of sunflowers in his hands, just like in the movie.
The original idea of a light-up heart has also been adopted. Pressing the switch on the back activates the light brick and makes E.T.’s heart glow.
When completed, the 1,226-piece set, designed for adult fans of LEGO (AFOLs), measures 24 cm (9.5 in.) tall, 21 cm (8.5 in.) wide, and 15 cm (6 in.) deep, recreating the beloved visiting extraterrestrial botanist from a distant world.
