Here’s a new product from LEGO that no super fans of LEGO should miss. It is a wooden minifigure. A pretty damn massive one actually. To be precise, it is a big 5:1 upscaled model.
So, yeah, LEGO Originals Wooden Minifigure (853967) is an upsized minifigure (more like megafigure, really). It is handcrafted from FSC-certified oak and totally posable as a minifigure should – complete with adjustable plastic hands – just like the regular minifigures.
The model measures over 7 inches (20 centimeters) tall, 4 inches (11 centimeters) wide and 3.5 inches (9 centimeters) deep. It being wood, is a nod to LEGO’s heritage as a wooden toy maker before a fire changed its fate to become the company that we know today.
The last LEGO product to combine both wood and plastic was the 1130 Bedford firetruck which was released in 1959, 60 years ago.
Thus, the LEGO Originals Wooden Minifigure (853967) is not just a homage to the Danish toymaker’s humble beginning, but also a celebration of the last wood and plastic toy set.
The figure comes in original wood finish which, if you so choose to, you can use it as a blank canvas to unleash your creativity – just like the world’s famous bear, Bearbrick.
Each LEGO Originals Wooden Minifigure is presented in a premium gift box with a 28-page booklet featuring the history of the minifigure and the story behind the development this wooden model, along with inspiring examples of how LEGO designers personalized their models.
The LEGO Originals Wooden Minifigure (853967) will be available starting November 8, 2019, for $119.99. Prior to that, it is available exclusively to LEGO VIPs starting November 3, 2019.
