Have you heard? The LEGO Creator James Bond Aston Martin DB5 has been retired. If you missed it or you decided not to get it because the sticker was way off your budget, then perhaps we may interest you in the Speed Champions alternative? Folks, meet the all-new LEGO Speed Champions 007 Aston Martin DB5 (76911).
While it may not have any gimmicks like the designed for adult LEGO model, the LEGO Speed Champions 007 Aston Martin DB5 (76911) is still an accurate representation of this classic ride of the world’s most famous (fictional) spy.
From the product images, it looks fantastic. While elements like the grille and headlights and taillights are now presented as decals, the image of the iconic ride is unmistakable. It does have the soul of the 60s sports car.
Thankfully, though, the familiar wire wheels are not decals. They are presented as molded silver-colored wire wheel rim inserts. In addition, it also comes with 4 extra sets of license plates representing different James Bond movies, plus a No Time To Die James Bond Minifigure – complete with a toy wrench.
Why the wrench? I have absolutely no idea. Don’t remember Bond ever lift a finger to repair a vehicle. My guess is the wrench is for whacking bad guys. No?
The LEGO Speed Champions 007 Aston Martin DB5 (76911) is a 298-piece set that, when completed, measures a compact 17 cm (6.5 inches) long, 7 cm (2.5 inches) wide, and 5 cm (2 inches). As with any Speed Champions sets, it is good for display as it is good for play. And it is affordable too. It will sell for US$19.99 when it becomes available on August 01, 2022.
