LEGO Star Wars Ambush on Ferrix (75338)

I am sure Star Wars fans remember what transpired in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Oh, you don’t? I guess it is time for a refresher because there’s going to be a prequel. Yup. That’s right. A prequel to a prequel. The prequel, entitled Star Wars: Andor, is a series.

Star Wars: Andor recounts the events five years before Rogue One. From the title, you know the spotlight is on Cassian Andor. And yes, Diego Luna is reprising his role as Cassian Andor.

I love Rogue One but I am not sure that I want to know the story of Andor. However, I am kind of captivated by the show’s one vehicle: the Mobile Tac-Pod. It looks like a caricature version of the Republic Gunship, all squashed up and hence looking cute.

And because of my unexplained attraction to it, I am also drawn to the upcoming LEGO Star Wars Ambush on Ferrix (75338) set which features the Mobile Tac-Pod.

I am not sure what the Mobile Tac-Pod CG model looked like but we do get a peek in the teaser trailer which you can find embedded below. But one very sure I love it with studs. It is god damn adorable. OK. I gotta stop saying it is cute (but it is).

Anyhoo, as the product name implies, the set lets you play out, well, ambush on Ferrix. In addition to the super cute (OK, I should really stop describing it as “cute”), it also includes a speeder bike, and minifigures of 3 Star Wars: Andor characters, namely, Cassian Andro, Luthen Rael, and Syril Karn.

What part the Mobile Tac-Pod plays is not exactly clear but we do know that it is a compact mobile transport and this LEGO replica features adjustable wings for flight and landing, opening top and sides to reveal the detailed interior, and a rotating double stud shooter (!).

Meanwhile, the Speeder Bike has seats for Cassian Andor and Luthen Rael. All told the set packs a modest 679 pieces and when completed, the Mobile Tac-Pod measures over 4.5 inches high, 9 inches long, and 7 inches wide (11 x 23 x 17 cm).

The set will have both printed and digital instructions. The set is recommended for ages 9 and above.

The LEGO Star Wars Ambush on Ferrix (75338) will drop on August 01, 2022 (tomorrow), for US$69.99. As for the series, it will start streaming on Disney+ on August 31, 2022.
