Disney is 100 this year and Leica, being the brand closely associated with the beginning of Disney is celebrating Disney’s centennial with a very lovely special edition Leica Q2 Disney “100 Years of Wonder” Camera [DE]. The Leica Q2 Disney “100 Years of Wonder” Camera will appeal to photography enthusiasts who are huge fans of Disney as well as Leica camera collectors.
Using the Leica Q2 as the base, this special edition is decorated with an extraordinary material reminiscent of the tracing paper on which Disney animators drew scenes and characters, and on it is a model sheet created in 1937 by Don Towsley, one of the most renowned animators at Walt Disney Studios. A discreet Mickey Mouse print can also be found adorning the camera’s top cap and the Disney logo is engraved under the back display glass.
Rounding up the special edition camera is a dust-proof case with matching original Disney graphics, a specially designed carrying strap, a certificate of authenticity, and edition packaging.
The Leica Q2 Disney “100 Years of Wonder” Camera has a limited run of just 500 units worldwide with each camera rocking a special serial number.
Beyond that, this Q2 is pretty much the Q2 that was originally released in 2019 as the second generation of Leica’s do-it-all. camera, which features a 47.3 MP full-frame sensor and is paired with a Summilux 28 mm f1.7 lens. The lens touts both class-leading autofocus speeds and a dedicated macro mode, while the sensor is capable of recording stunning high-resolution images and 4K video.
