LG 2020 Real 8K TV Lineup CES 2020

If you have just upgraded to 4K TV, well, we have bad news for you. Home consumer technology has just moved on. Just when you are getting started to enjoy the eye-watering resolution offered by 4K TV, 8K TV is set to be a commonplace this year – thanks in part to LG expanded 8K TV lineup.

At CES 2020, LG is bringing along eight TVs with new 77- and 65-inch class models that will join its existing 88- and 75-inch offerings. Why is it a bad news? The more 8K TVs there are in the market, the cheaper they are going to get. That’s logic.

But don’t get all distraught over this. From a person who had been on the 4K bandwagon for more than year, I can tell you that you are not missing on anything. Trust me, the contents will not be as common as the 8K TVs.

As for those who felt the need to be at the bleeding edge of the technology, well then, I supposed this is a good news cos’ the days of $70K 8K TV may be over.

Anyways, LG 2020 8K TV lineup includes premium 88- and 77-inch class LG Signature OLED 8K TVs (88/77 OLED ZX) and advanced LG NanoCell TVs (75/65 Nano99, 75/65 Nano97, 75/65 Nano95).

Here’s what you need to know about LG 2020 8K TVs:

Not only do LG 8K TVs deliver Real 8K, they are also future-proofed to provide customers peace of mind with multiple ways to enjoy the Real 8K experience. The new models offer the capability to play native 8K content thanks to support of the widest selection of 8K content sources from HDMI and USB digital inputs, including codecs such as HEVC, VP9 and AV1, the latter being backed by major streaming providers including YouTube. LG’s 8K TVs will support 8K content streaming at a rapid 60FPS and are certified to deliver 8K 60P over HDMI.

In addition, these new 8K TVs will also benefit from the new α (Alpha) 9 Gen 3 AI Processor that leverages on deep learning technology to deliver optimized picture and sound quality for all types of content through AI-based 8K upscaling.

So, yeah, just like when we were going from 720p to 1080p and 1080p to 4K, upscaling is a major selling point because, the obvious lack of contents to take full advantage of the resolution the TV has to offer.

And then there’s the AI Sound Pro. Yup. Sound, too, gets a boost. But we shan’t dabble in the technicality of what LG 2020 Real 8K TV Lineup with Next-Gen AI Processor has too offer. IMHO, the best thing to believe what LG promised is to experience it, which you can do so at CES 2020, at LG’s booth (#11100), located at Central Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC).
