apparently phone makers are haggling over how a phone should fit our face, or in our hands. well, at least that’s what Korean electronics giants LG and Samsung seems to be doing by introducing each of their own iteration of curve display smartphone that’s suppose to be more ergonomic for, get this, our face. actually, Samsung GALAXY Round didn’t explicitly indicate that, but it does propose a good hold or something of sort. now, LG has also officially join the curve display revolution with the LG G Flex Smartphone, albeit in a different direction, literally. instead curving horizontally, the G Flex has a vertically curved design, which according to LG, “follows the contour of the face” and allows one’s mouth to be closer to the microphone for improve voice and sound quality. well, it all sounds nice and novel, except that we don’t quite talk on the phone with the handset on our face as much as we used to with Nokia 8210.

powered by a quad-core 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip with 2GB RAM, the G Flex also sports a rear power/volume button combo like its sibling, the G2, for easier handling of this massive 6-inch class handset. other features include 450MHz Adreno 330 GPU, a 6-inch curved Plastic OLED display with 1,280 by 720 resolution, 32GB onboard storage, 13MP rear camera, a 2.1MP front-facing camera, 24-bit/192kHz HiFi music playback, a built-in 3,500 mAh battery, plus the usuals such as LTE radios (supports LTE-A, as well as HSPA+), Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi (supports up to ac), NFC and more. actually, there’s one more interesting feature with the G Flex smartphone: the handset comes equipped with an elastic “self healing” coating on the back of the phone that is said to have the ability to recover from scratches and nicks, thereby keeping the phone looking newer for a longer period of time. awesome? it certainly is for non-case lovers and a nightmare for case makers. as with many new handsets we have featured, pricing and availability are to be announced.
