Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder Ride-on Toy by Radio Flyer

When I was a kid, Star Wars was a phenomena that has taken the world by storm. Everyone was nuts about this sci-fi movie franchise and its merchandise, naturally, flew off the shelves. I bet if the Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder Ride-on Toy by Radio Flyer was available, it will also fly off the shelves too and I also foresee myself begging my parents for one. Though I am 100 percent sure they won’t because of the asking price of $500. Ouch. These days, kids are blessed, even more so if they have rich parents. Clearly, mine wasn’t back then. I even had problem convincing my dad to buy me a pack of five Star Wars action figure. I did managed to secure one Stormtrooper tho.

Anywho, unlike the movie’s X-34, this kid-sized Landspeeder does not hover (obviously); instead it functions like any regular Radio Flyer’s kiddie ride with Radio Flyer’s level of attention to detail. In this instance, the details are pretty thorough, including seats for two (kids, total not more than 130 lbs, or 59 kg), an interactive dashboard with lights and real movie sounds, and a two-speed transmission that lets you switch between 2 and 5 mph plus a 2 mph reverse gear.

There’s no fancy remote control here, so your kids are pretty much on their own once they hope into this real-life, drivable but not hover, Landspeeder. I can see the manufacturer have tried as much as possible to be inconspicuous about the fact that it don’t actually hover by painting the entire bottom in black. And it actually looks pretty convincing depending on where your kids are riding it on. Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder Ride-on Toy by Radio Flyer will be available exclusively from Toys ‘R’ Us starting September 5. In the mean time, skip ahead for the product video.
