Bear Grylls, aka Edward Micheal Grylls OBE, is perhaps the most recognizable survivalist and TV personality of our time. The former SAS serviceman is synonymous with adventure and exploration, and have had a series of adventure-related product collaborations ranging from paramotor to survival gear like knives to even canteen that we adore so much.
The latest of such collab to hit the market is the Luminox x Bear Grylls Survival Collection Timepieces. The collection includes the Master series, Sea series and Land series, with two models in each series.
Both the Master and Land series are chronographs, but oddly, Sea is not only not a Chronograph, it is lacking the a compass on the band. I guess you does not need to know the direction or anything more than time when drifting on the sea?
The Master series is perhaps the most complex series, featuring 45 mm Carbonox+ case and Carbonox unidirectional bezel, stainless steel chronograph pushers, rubber crown ring, 300 meters (1,000 feet) water resistance, and SOS in Morse inscribed on the case for quick reference.
The Land series, on the other hand, sports a fixed Carbonox bezel, 45 mm Carbonox case, 200 meters water resistance, black paracord strap (3798 model only) and stainless steel screw on crown.
The non-Chronograph Sea series gets a 42 mm Carbonox case with crown protection, unidirectional Carbonox bezel, stainless steel screw on crown and 200 meters water resistance. Yeah, I know. Strange that ‘Sea’ model is not any deeper in water resistance as the Master series. Not that going beyond 660 feet is a common thing to do, especially in a survival scenario.
Whichever model you choose, you find Bear Grylls orange accent across the timepiece as well as man’s name and slogan “Never Give Up” on the watch face (or bezel) and engraved on the case back.
The Luminox x Bear Grylls Survival Collection Timepieces are available for pre-order with the Master series going for $890 while the Land series and the Sea series sells for for $595-640 and $445, respectively.
