LunoWear Wooden Dress Watch

Wood is an unlikely material for wrist watches. Well, not that it hasn’t been done before, but for dress watches, wood is definitely a rarity. Put wood together with leather, and you got yourself a classy, wrist-worn conversational piece. How do we substantiate our statement? Just look at what LunoWear Wooden Dress Watches have to offer. Now, tell me you are not a bit impress. Presented in a choice of bamboo or ebony wood, each watch bears its own rich texture which means no two watches are alike. Throw in a set of genuine Bovine leather straps and you have yourself a serious piece of modern classic. Being made of wood, it is lightweight and the reasonably low-profile design makes the watches cuff-friendly too. And check this out: even the caseback is of wood material and engraved with LunoWear’s branding.

Except for the Miyota 2035 Japanese quartz moment under the hood, the securing screws and crown, everything else is wood. LunoWear did not specifically mention water resistant and considering it is wood, we are going to assume it is not, though the wood used does have a water-resistant finish. At this point, you must thinking, these timepieces must cost a bomb, but on the contrary, owning one will just run you back at $65. Yep. Sixty-five American dollars. Another prove that being stylish don’t necessary mean breaking your bank. Furthermore, the duo behind LunoWear, Boman Farrer and Ryan Krantz, maybe ‘noobs’ in watchmaking, but for Farrer, he is not a complete stranger to watchmaking. He hails from a family of watchmakers and has even enlisted his grandfather to help realize his dream watch.

Keen watchers of crowdfunding campaigns may have noted that LunoWear did appear on Kickstarter previously, but apparently, it was booted out on the ground of it being a ‘scamming’ product. Now, we are not going to justify for LunoWear, but we are going to go with their story and leave readers to decide. In any case, they are back, but this time, Indiegogo has cleared LunoWear’s campaign which, I am sure over 2,000 people, will be thankful as they get to pre-order this beautiful watch. The team is looking to raise $10,000 to take it to production and have since met with overwhelming response, raising over 1,800 percent in funding at the time of this writing. I guess, the stress is on the duo now. Eh?
