The teaser pretty much gave you some idea of how the new Masters of the Universe live-action movie is going to play out. Now, the official trailer expands on that further—even if only slightly—and yes, spoilers are imminent. So, spoiler haters, this is your cue to turn away. No, wait. Scratch that. You really should already be off the Internet.

The plot is clear: He-Man is the new Superman. Except that he was not sent to Earth as a baby. He was much older. Loyal fans may be puzzled. Wait, He-Man, Earth? There’s some vague connection between Eternia and Earth, but never anything explicit, let alone shown visually. Queen Marlena, He-Man’s mother, was supposedly from Earth. But he was, at no point in the continuity—cartoons or comics—sent to Earth. Apparently, that changes with the live-action movie.
Seriously, I feared the worst for the origin. That’s not to mention how Eternia feels more like Asgard, cinematically speaking.
Anyhoo, the story goes that the protagonist was sent away to Earth to protect him—like Superman—but he returned—like Thor. Eventually, the Sword of Power drags him back to a world where Skeletor is the boss. You know how the story goes.
I was half expecting a He-Man who is a lot more pumped. Because He-Man is, you know, all muscle. I know Dolph Lundgren was nowhere near as beefy as Prince Adam. That makes Nicholas Galitzine the closest physical match. Then again, he’s only the second live-action He-Man.

As said, the first official trailer is basically a slight expansion of the teaser—all without bumping up the trailer length. Though this time we have a clearer picture of Castle Grayskull and the causeway leading up to it. Interestingly, neither the teaser nor the trailer features the hero exclaiming “By the power of Grayskull…”, only “I have the power!”. I wonder if it was intentionally cut out to maintain the mysterious element, or if there is some woke culture we didn’t know about that does not allow that to be said on screen.
Keep going for the said trailer—or not, because it is pretty much the teaser, viewed from different angles, plus a few seconds of new things here and there.
The Masters of the Universe movie will hit the theaters on June 05, 2026.
