When the 2022 Nissan GT-R NISMO Special Edition was announced, Nissan also revealed a collaboration with McDonald’s Japan. Like last year’s McDonald’s Japan collaboration with Tomica, each Happy Meal set, known as “Tomica Happy Set”, will come with a Tomica toy car, featuring Nissan GT-R NISMO in stealth gray finish.
During the announcement, it was also revealed that there is actually going to be a “secret toy” with this Happy Set. The secret toy turns out to be a special Tomica model of the 2022 Nissan GT-R NISMO in gold finish.
It is not a Nissan exclusive promo, however. The Tomica Happy Set will also feature other makes and models, which include a Toyota 86, a Mitsubishi Delica D:5, a Suzuki Jimny, a Morita Fire Engine, a McDelivery motorcycle, a Kobelco mobile crane, and a police car.
Setting this year’s collaboration apart from last year’s is, each toy comes with its own accessories that, when collect them all, let you put together a cohesive playset.
Each of the road car comes with a section of a road. The Toyota 86’s section of the road is a special piece with a launcher that, when a toy car is plugged into it, enables it to be launched at a push of a button.
The non-road car vehicles, such as the fire engine comes with a section of the Fire Department, the crane gets a construction site while the McDelivery bike has a small McDonald restaurant – complete with a drive thru section and the police car is accompanied by a police booth.
The non-road car collection is available from Happy Set purchased between April 16 and April 29, and the road car collection will be available with Happy Set brought on April 30 to May 13.
Last year’s Tomica promotion with McDonald’s saw Toyota GAZOO Racing and McDonald’s rolling out a collaborative movie.
While this year it does not have a promo movie, Nissan has partnered with McDonald’s to offer a Nissan GT-R Riding Experience driven by Nissan Motor test driver in a sweepstake.
Obviously, this golden opportunity is for Japan’s residents only. The sweepstake runs from April 14-29, 11:59PM, Japan Time.
