Meitu Released Sailor Moon-themed Phone And Selfie Stick

You probably won’t turned into a girly middle-school Japanese student with a magical cat that bestowed her with the power to save the world under the alter-ego Sailor Moon with the Meitu Sailor Moon Pretty Warrior Edition M8 smartphone, but you sure can look the part and best of all, still make calls, text, and a bunch of other stuff a smartphone does these days. And oh, yes, and take selfie like a Sailor Moon pro should with the Sailor Moon-themed selfie stick.

As far as a phone is concerned, M8 offers you a non-common 5.2-inch AMOLED FHD touch display and under the hood, it has an octacore Helio X20 M processor clocking in at 2.1 GHz backed by 4GB RAM, 64GB onboard storage, MALI T880 GPU, a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery, and of course, the pride and joy of Meitu’s existence, imaging with the rear sporting a 21MP Sony IMX230 sensor, and the front, a 12MP Sony IMX362. Needless to say, it will get the regular smartphone features like dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth (4.1 in this case), OTA update, LTE radios, plus the usual garden variety of sensors. It has a USB Type-C port too, in case you are wondering.

But the real draw here, if you can call it a draw, is the Sailor Moon theme which saw the phone getting a girly pink hue with gold accents, and the mandatory Sailor Moon emblem. The same colorway, i.e. pink with gold accent, can be found on the matching selfie stick which looks like one of the protagonist’s many Moon Sticks, the Spiral Heart Moon Rod. It looks like the selfie stick comes with its own matching Bluetooth shutter button control too.

Chinese superstar Angelababy is the spokesperson of Meitu and so, it is not surprising that the model/actress/singer was also involved in the launch of the Sailor Moon-themed Phone And Selfie Stick. We are not sure if this limited edition smartphone will travel further than China’s shore when it goes on sales on Friday for 2,999 RMB (or about US$435). Only 10,000 units will be made available. If you are not a fan, there’s also a couple of Hello Kitty Edition (2,799 RMB, or about US$405) up for grab too. Sorry, there’s no Ultraman edition in foreseeable future though.

The Meitu Sailor Moon Pretty Warrior Edition Meitu M8 is an officially licensed product, btw, and it will come with its own exquisite packaging, matching accessories, a collectible book, and Sailor Moon-themed user interface (you know, stuff and all that).
