the mantra of less is more is perhaps most clearly exemplified by the new Mercedes-Benz SL 400, which despite having half a liter less than the outgoing SL 350, has 27 hp more power and 110 Nm (81 lb-ft) more torque. push forth by a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine, pumping out 333 hp and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque, and paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission, the new Mercedes-Benz SL 400 is capable of rocketing from zero to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds and has an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). performance it has, but it ain’t no big gas guzzler; the Germany luxury car maker claims a return of 32.2 mpg, or 7.3 liter per 100 km.

the aluminum-made roadster features a retractable vario-roof, EU6-compliant, unique Frontbass system for a concert hall-like in-car entertainment regardless of whether the top is up or down, and the highly efficient MAGIC VISION CONTROL wipe/wash system that takes water from the wiper blade to the windscreen as required and regardless of the direction of the wipe. the key features all points to one thing the pointed star marque wants the SL 400 Roadster to do: a ride that’s suitable for everyday use and not kept away in the garage for weekends. price for the Mercedes-Benz SL 400 Roadster starts at €97,282.50 (around US$134,000) in its home turf, though we are not sure of the exact availability or when it will be make its way to elsewhere outside of Germany.
