Metal Gear Solid Δ Snake Eater Launch Trailer

Back in 2023, we had a pleasant surprise from Konami and PlayStation. It was announced that Solid Snake would be returning. At that time, we knew nothing—except that the game might be set in the Amazon rainforest. Fast forward two years to today, and we think we have a better idea of what’s going to unfold. OK, maybe not. Anyways, PlayStation and Konami just dropped the launch trailer. All I can say is that Metal Gear Solid has come a long way from its polygon days.

We now know that Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is a remake of the 2004 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Ah, suddenly the jungle scene in the announcement trailer made sense. I was a fan, by the way—I played the first four titles. Much like Assassin’s Creed, I parted ways once the plot got too convoluted. But yes, I’m excited for this remake, especially when the graphics look this good.

Konami didn’t reveal much, but here’s one single sentence from the horse’s mouth if you really need to know:

“The remake maintains what players loved from the original: story, characters, voice acting, gameplay and music presented now in an even more immersive experience.”

It’s basically a reboot, presumably with audio and visuals so good they’ll make OG fans weep, possibly yelling, “What a time to be alive, Snake! What a time!” As for the story… I challenge you to recall everything that led up to the showdown with Naked Snake, a.k.a. Big Boss, in the MGS3.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater will be released on August 28, 2025. It is available for pre-order as we speak at US$69.99 for the Standard Edition. Serious fans may want to consider the Digital Deluxe Edition at US$79.99, which includes a sneaking DLC pack and 48-hour early access. Skip ahead for the launch trailer.
