We thought luxury phone brand Vertu is shuttered for good but no, it has returned, again, with an entirely new approach. It is taking a dip in Web 3.0 aka Web3 with the “world’s first Web3 phone”, METAVERTU. It being a Web3 device means it has blockchain-based apps that look like regular mobile apps and it can run its own blockchain node, and turn photos and videos into NFTs with a single click.
In addition, METAVERTU supports token insurance and lets you mine virtual currency without a computer using the built-in application, and more. The device is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5G chip, an A5 Independent Secure Chip, backed LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 storage, and it boasts unique VTALK communication that offers point-to-point encryption communication.
It has a 144 Hz 6.67-inch FHD+ (2,400 by 1,080 pixels) AMOLED “Waterfall” display and it is equipped with three cameras, featuring a 64MP “Humanity Camera” which has a Sony IMX787 sensor with OIS, a 50 MP wide-angle camera, and an 8 MP periscope camera, also with OIS. Around the front, it has a 16 MP hole-punch selfie camera.
The device is juiced by a 4,600 mAh that Vertu says is good for 24 hours of use and supports 55 W fast charging, and 15 W wireless charging.
Other specs sheet details include fingerprint unlock, NFC, positioning (GPS/A-GPS, Beidou, Galileo, GLONASS), and Bluetooth 5.2. In the area of Web3 features, it boasts Vshot Blockchain Camera, Vbox 10T Storage Space, the aforementioned Vtalk Encrypted IM, Value Web3 Wallet, Vos Lightnode, DAPP Store, Venture Browser, NFT PASS, DID Digital Identity, and Metaspace Encrypted Space.
This being a VERTU, the METAVERTU makes no apologies for its opulence. It is offered in a variety of uber-premium finishes like sapphire glass, ceramic, alligator leather, calf leather, carbon fiber, and the super luxe 18K gold and diamonds.
The METAVERTU Web3 Phone by Vertu is available now in a choice of 12 GB + 512 GB and 18 GB + 1 TB configurations, with a starting price of US$3,600 and it can run up to as much as an eye-popping US$41,500 for the range-topping 18+1 “PRO” model dressed in Himalay Alligator Leather 18K Gold and Diamonds.
