A Honda NSX as a police patrol car isn’t exactly breaking news. But I’m pretty sure the Mie Prefecture Police is the first to cruise the streets in a second-gen NSX. The car was donated by a real estate company called “Smart,” presumably as a way to get young folks interested in law enforcement—or at least mildly impressed by it.

Smart’s act is sweet and all, but if I were an officer there, my main concern would be getting my name on the sign-up sheet for this ride. I mean, how often do you get paid to drive your dream car? That’s not a job perk you find on LinkedIn.
The NSX patrol car was officially unveiled on April 21, 2025, at Honda’s home turf, Suzuka Circuit. And no, it’s not showroom stock anymore. It’s been fully “police-ified” with a roof light bar, the classic black-and-white livery, a National Police Agency crest in place of the Honda badge (blasphemy, but fine), and plates marked with “110,” Japan’s version of 911.
What can I say? Han wouldn’t have had a chance in his Veilside RX-7 if the cops were packing this NC1 NSX with 573 horses and SH-AWD. Fast and mildly bureaucratic.
