I know what we say about how paying for a lot more for what essentially is the same technology is kind of silly. But we have to tell you about the new Montblanc smartwatch nevertheless. For avid of followers of Montblanc, no, there’s no Summit 3. Instead, there is this: Montblanc Summit 2+ Smartwatch.
While we stand by our opinion, at least this four-figure smartwatch has something other luxury smartwatch makers do not have: cellar function. Montblanc Summit 2+ is the first luxury cellular watch powered by Wear OS.
Thanks to the LTE radios, you can leave your phone behind and not miss a single call or notifications. So, yes, you can make calls on this watch – just as mankind have dreamed since Dick Tracy. Obviously, it isn’t the first. But it surely is the first as far as luxury smartwatch is concerned.
It gets a 1.28-inch AMOLED display with a 2 mm thick sapphire crystal as it should and packed inside its 43.5 mm pure steel case crafted by Montblanc is a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100, backed by a Gigabyte of RAM and 8 GB of storage. You know, the usual expect of today’s smartwatches.
And there are, of course, built-in speaker and microphone, along with a bunch of sensors, including accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, compass, gyroscope, and heart rate sensor.
The watch, obviously, also has haptic feedback and it is IPX8 rated for protection against ingress of dust and water. Finally, it has a rotating crown with programmable two pushers, and packs a 440 mAh battery.
If you have the money to drop and desire for a smartwatch that actually looks like a luxury timepiece, this may be it.
The Montblanc Summit 2+ comes in a choice of case finishes, including black DLC steel, stainless steel, rose gold and bronze steel, and befitting its classy, dress watch ethos, it can be paired with variety of strap options.
The Montblanc Summit 2+ Smartwatch will have a sticker starting at $1,170 when it becomes available and when’s that. We have absolutely not idea.
