I am getting dizzy reading the overview of one of Alienware’s latest gaming laptops, the new Alienware Area-51m. As post title says, it is really “a beast of gaming laptop” because, this beauty here boasts an upgradeable, overclockable FULL DESKTOP 9th-generation Intel Core processors (mind you, ain’t no laptop processor here) and NVIDIA GPUs, plus a sick magnesium alloy chassis to boot.
It may not be slim like Razer gaming laptops, but this bad boy here will please your eyes with built-in RGB lighting, dope hexagonal venting, and suitable amount of angled sections. If you ask me, it has a design that truly befits its brand Alienware. As with any DELL product, the Alienware Area-51m 17-inch Gaming Laptop is configurable and therefore, it is kind of hard to lay out the specifications, but here’s the core specifications for the new Alienware Area-51m:
• 9th-generation intel Core i9-9900K processor (8-core, 16 MB Cache, up to 5.0 GHz w/Turbo Boost)
• Windows 10 Home 64-bit (English) Operating System
• NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 8 GB GDDR6 (OC Ready) GPU
• up to 64 GB (4x 16 GB) DDR4 2400 MHz RAM
• up to 2 TB RAID 0 (2x 1 TB PCIe M.2 SSDs) + 1 TB (+8 GB SSHD) Hybrid Drive
• 17.3-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) 144 Hz Anti-Glare IPS display w/ NVIDIA G-SYNC + Tobii eye tracking technology
• Killer Wireless 1550 x2x AC and Bluetooth 5.0
What’s even more impressive is, both the CPU and the GPU are both upgradeable. Now, you already know the processor is overclockable, but what you may not know is how easy it is to overclock. Thanks to the pre-installed Alienware Command Center software, you can easily overclock the processor even if you do not have the technical knowledge. There’s even a fail safe built into it, so there’s no worry of frying or bricking the laptop when doing so.
Pardon me if I sounded overly excited over the fail safe because, frying and bricking are, unfortunately, so very relatable to yours truly. With great power comes great prices and by ‘great’, I do not mean ‘affordable’. The Alienware Area-51m 17-inch Gaming Laptop commands a beastly starting price of $4,249.99. Ouch. Then again, nobody ever says a beast of gaming laptop is cheap. It never was and sadly, it never will be. Ever.
A huge shout out to Media Relation team at DELL for sending us the official images!
