as you might have expected, Nike has launched their own hero boot for this year, the Nike Magista Football Boot, shortly after Adidas’s “world’s first knitted football boot”, the Samba PrimeKnit. needless to say, all these are riding on the Olympics of football, the FIFA World Cup 2014 which will be officiating in less than 100 days. with the Magista, Nike is officially bringing Flyknit technology, which has seen actions in running shoes since 2012 and more recently in KOBE 9 ELITE basketball shoe, into soccer cleats. Flyknit technology offers a second-skin, sock-like feel that allows the foot to “get closer” to the ball and thereby delivering enhanced ball-feel and control. the snug-fitting Magista boasts a new mid-cut Dynamic Fit Collar for a more locked-down fit, while the mid-cut design affords the foot, ankle and lower leg to work together as a single unit.

the Magista has a Brio cables-reinforced 3D-knit textured upper for increase friction necessary for ball control and striking, as well as added strength and lock-down for multi-directional movement. finally, the Flyknit construction is coated with a special application of NIKESKIN to keep water at bay. interestingly, Nike has choose to do without inboard sole in order to achieve a better center of gravity and enhanced traction. rounding up the package is an outsole fitted with conical studs for 360-deg rotational traction and a Pebax-and-nylon plate that allows for flex and responsiveness while eliminating mechanical flex. so there you have it, another knitted football cleats, which in our humble opinion, might be the new standards in future soccer boot. i mean who wouldn’t want to play almost bare-footed? more look and a product vid after the break.
