Nissan Ariya Pole to Pole Expedition Reaches South Pole

Remember the ambitious pole-to-pole expedition by a British couple in a Nissan Ariya Electric? Well, here’s an update: they have reached the South Pole. I salute the couple’s determination. They have traveled over 30,000 km (6,214 miles) in the Nissan Ariya EV, marking the first successful pole-to-pole drive in an electric vehicle.

Adventurers Chris and Julie Ramsey have achieved a groundbreaking feat by completing an all-electric journey to the South Pole. Their 10-month, 30,000 km (6,214 miles) trek began at the Magnetic North Pole and spanned the diverse landscapes of the Americas before navigating Antarctica. This marks the first time an electric vehicle, a modified Nissan Ariya, has made such a journey.

The expedition not only aims to raise global interest in electric mobility but also tests Nissan’s technology. The Nissan Ariya, equipped with e-4ORCE all-wheel control, has proven its mettle in extreme conditions, facing both high altitudes and low temperatures. While the SUV remained essentially stock, with no modifications to the powertrain or battery, it was customized to accommodate massive 39-inch BG Goodrich tires.
