As excited as Star Wars fans may get over the officially licensed Star Wars Bluetooth Speakers, it may also come as a shock when the product’s campaign on Kickstarter was unexpectedly pulled. Well, the good news is, it did not get cancelled because it was a scam; this thing is totally legit and it will be made (yeah!). ACWorldwide, the London-based outfit behind the C-3PO and Stormtrooper helmet Bluetooth speakers, has found themselves a tech business investor who will inject the capital necessary to get the speakers into production and into your hands. The difference is, you don’t need to pre-order and pay upfront like you are required when the campaign ends.
Anyways, the fact that these are Bluetooth speakers based on the lovable droid C-3PO and the iconic Imperial Stormtrooper, needs little introduction. But do not mistake them as some crudely made “officially licensed” product; these speakers are so detailed that they are possibly more detailed than the actual movie props used. This means, where it is supposed to be a grill, it will be a grill. No sticker, no paint over to simulate such detail. Well, that sure sounds like our cuppa and should appeal to many Star Wars enthusiasts.
Under the hood, it ain’t shoddy too. It is a full-fledge 2.1 speaker system, packing two 32mm drivers and a 102mm downward firing, ported sub, offering 21W of thumping sonic reproduction. Each speaker stands 12 inches (about 30 cm) tall and can be powered by either using wall outlet, or the 2,200 mAh rechargeable battery, so you can place them whenever you desire – be it the bookshelf, your desk or wherever. Heck, you can even bring it out with you if you don’t get gross out by having a ‘head’ stashed in your bag.
So how do you order one? Well, Kickstarter backers will get a direct message from ACWorldwide and are promised the item they have backed. Though we are not sure how new interested buyers will be able to get their hands on one. My guess is, we will have to wait for it to be ready and gets online. That said, we are not sure when that will happen. Initial Kickstarter’s promised was for February 2016 delivery, but now that money is a non-issue, we are hoping it will be much earlier than that. In any case, we thought you’d be interested in “seeing it live” first, which you can do so by catching the original Kickstarter pitch video below.
